A 22-year-old man was killed early Wednesday when the BMW he was riding in crashed into a tractor-trailer on a Bronx expressway and ended up wedged between the truck and a concrete divider, cops said.
The BMW’s 19-year-old driver lost control trying to zip around the Kenworth tractor-trailer traveling in the center lane of the westbound Cross Bronx Expressway near Nelson Ave. about 1:45 a.m., cops said.
As he tried to pass the truck on the left, the passenger side of the BMW slammed into the rear driver’s side of the tractor-trailer, getting stuck between the truck and divider.
BMW passenger Sulayman Njie suffered a massive head injury in the crash. Medics rushed him and the BMW driver to St. Barnabas Hospital but Njie could not be saved, cops said. The driver suffered minor injuries.
The 52-year-old driver of the tractor trailer wasn’t harmed and remained at the scene.
No charges were immediately filed.
Njie lived in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, police said.
