The alleged gunman accused of killing one person and injuring at least four others has been identified as 24-year-old Deion Patterson.
The suspect is believed to have a military background and allegedly become agitated before opening fire inside Atlanta’s Northside Hospital Medical Midtown on Wednesday afternoon, sources told CNN.
Officials say he was visiting the hospital with his mother, who is cooperating with cops as they search for Patterson.
Police have warned the public that Patterson may be “armed and dangerous.”
Surveillance photos released showed the shooter wearing dark pants and a gray hoodie with the hood pulled up. They had a mask on their face and appeared to be wearing a satchel across their front.
One victim was pronounced dead on the scene and the others were taken to the nearby Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, officials said.
Three patients were in critical condition and two were being operated on, Grady Health System Chief Medical Officer Dr. Robert Jansen said at a televised press conference just before 2:30 p.m.
