Two suspects have been nabbed out of state for shooting a man to death in Harlem during a robbery, authorities said Wednesday.
Zaire Allen, 19, was extradited Wednesday from Maryland after being indictedfor murder, robbery and gun possession for the slaying of Alonza Georgia inside NYCHA’s St. Nicholas Houses.
Hassan Winston was arrested out of state and is indicted on the same charges.
Georgia, 24, was struck in the chest in the building on W. 131st St. near Adam Clayton Powell Blvd. about 9 p.m. March 26 and died a day later at Harlem Hospital.
Allen lives in Philadelphia, according to cops. He was ordered held without bail after pleading not guilty during his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court Wednesday. Winston had not yet been extradited to New York as of Thursday afternoon.
The victim’s mother, speaking shortly after his death, remembered her son fondly.
“A gentle giant, a teddy bear,” Elaine Francis told the Daily News. “Everybody said good things. He was a good brother. They’d sit on the phone: ‘I love you! I love you too! I love you more.’ Gift of gab. That smile.”
Georgia worked as a deliveryman.
“My son should definitely still be here,” the mother said. “I want a conviction. I want justice for my son.”
