Here’s a roundup of high school varsity action from Tuesday, April 18.
Girls lacrosse
Indian Creek 11, Annapolis Area Christian School 8: Abbey Bunker scored five goals and assisted on another to lead the win. Molly Bunker matched her with six points, spread between three goals and three assists. Sophee Gomberg had a goal and two assists, while Elia Alewine made 16 saves to lead the defense.
McDonough 12, Glenelg County School 8: Amanda Lawson and Sofia Trahan each scored four goals to lead the win. Kate Levy and Payton Madgey each added two goals. In goal, Regan O’Donava made six saves. Blair Byrne led GCS with four goals.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes 20, Tome School 6: The Falcons (13-1) were paced by six goals from Emma Carpenter and five from Vicky Meeker. Andie Hull had four goals and a team-best seven assists in the win. FCA jumped out to a 16-2 lead at halftime before closing out the win. Landen Cain and Alivia Carrillo each recorded hat tricks in the losing effort.
Boys lacrosse
Southern 16, Northeast 3: Jordan Fanzo powered the Bulldogs with five goals. Four players — Charlie Haley, Nathan Holaus, Alhaji Shaw and James Raymond — added two goals. Xavier Wilson led the defense with six saves. Matthew Hieatzman scored twice and Luke Fox made 14 saves for Northeast.
Softball
Towson 11, Sparrows Point 9: The trailed 9-4 going into the sixth inning, but the Generals erupted for seven runs in the frame to grab the win. Julianna Leatherwood had three hits, with a home run, and four RBIs. Molly Mohr went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Hannah McElhenney also had three hits and two RBIs.
Eastern Tech 9, Catonsville 2: Audrey Coker paced the Mavericks (9-1), going 4-for-4 with two RBIs. Sydney Weaver added three hits and two RBIs, while Gracie Himmelman and Hayden Gilpatrick also drove in runs. Malorie Gogel threw a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts.
Carver A&T 18, Hereford 1: The Wildcats took control early with 10 first-inning runs. Emily Hamp went 4-for-4 and drove in seven runs in the win. Mallory Cooper had four hits, including a double and triple, with three RBIs. Tabitha Bourne had two hits and three RBIs. L Dennis threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts.
