An off-duty Jacksonville police officer was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in St. Johns County during the weekend.
Officer Christopher Krukowski Lamont was driving his personal vehicle when taken into custody about 1 a.m. Saturday, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Sunday.
Lamont, a JSO officer for three years, is the third Sheriff’s Office employee arrested this year.
He has been “administratively reassigned while the criminal case is pending,” according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said Lamont was arrested following a roadside sobriety test administered by St. Johns County sheriff’s deputies during a traffic stop by St. Augustine police investigating a report of speeding.
St. Augustine police “had reason to believe that he was driving under the influence” after contacting him during the traffic stop. Those officers then asked the DUI unit of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office to respond and conduct the roadside field sobriety exercises.
Lamont subsequently was arrested on a charge of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and taken to the St. Johns County Detention Center, according to the news release.
