Days before an Majorjon Kaylor allegedly murdered four of his neighbors in Idaho, he accused one of the victims of exposing himself to the suspect’s wife and daughter, according to law enforcement documents.
Majorjon Kaylor was arrested Sunday night and charged with four counts of murder in the weekend slayings of Kenneth Guardipee, 65, Kenna Guardipee, 41, Devin Smith, 18, and Aiken Smith, 16. They lived in the same multi-home building as Kaylor and they had recently moved into the apartment, according to KREM.
Their deaths were all ruled homicides by gunshot.
According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday, authorities responded a week earlier to the same residence in Kellogg to investigate reports of obscene behavior. Kaylor’s wife, Kaylie Kaylor, told police Devin Smith stood in front of his bedroom window, masturbating in view of her young daughters who were playing outside at the time.
While no arrests were made, prosecutors recommended Smith be charged with indecent exposure, a misdemeanor, according to Kellogg Police Chief Paul Twidt. As of Wednesday, there was no record of the charge.
“We responded to the call, investigated the call, and the report was done that day and submitted to the prosecutor’s office for charges,” Twidt said of the incident. “I stand by what my officer did, and he did everything he could at the time. Nobody could have foreseen anything like this.”
Just prior to the shooting on Sunday, Kaylor and his wife got into a fight with Devin’s mother about the alleged incident.
When police arrived on the scene a short time later, they discovered the older victims dead from gunshot wounds to the temple, while Aiken Smith was found shot at point-blank range. Devin also suffered multiple gunshots at close range.
Kaylor later told police he said he “snapped” and “lost it” over the dispute, according the affidavit.
During Kaylor’s initial court appearance on Tuesday, prosecutor Benjamin Allen condemned the brutality, noting that one of the victims was a child.
“We see a crime which was committed in a relatively horrific manner in regards to the nature of the allegations, the manner in which it was carried out, and the method in which was utilized by the defendant in the course of his actions,” Allen said.
Kaylor was being held at the Shoshone County jail. He is also facing one count of burglary.
