A Staten Island man fatally stabbed his wife in their family home on Sunday and then tried to kill himself with the same knife — only to be thwarted by the couple’s son, who was cut while taking the blade away from his father — according to police sources.
It’s still unclear what sparked the domestic dispute on Blythe Place near Cotter Ave. just after 10 p.m. over the weekend.
The 62-year-old mother died of stab wounds to the upper body, according to the NYPD.
The 71-year-old husband suffered self-inflicted wounds to his upper body and the 41-year-old son got stabbed in the leg after wrestling the weapon from his dad, sources said.
The wife died after being taken to Richmond University Medical Center.
The father and son were listed in stable condition at the same hospital.
