The decomposed bodies of a 76-year-old woman and her son were found in a Brooklyn apartment, police said Tuesday.
It was not immediately clear if any foul play was involved.
Cops and firefighters called to the third floor home on Quentin Road near W. 5th St. in Gravesend after receiving a 911 call about a foul odor found the bodies shortly before 6:50 p.m. Monday, police said.
Firefighters had to break down the door in order to get inside, police said. Both bodies were badly decomposed and had been there for some time, cops said.
Neighbors identified the two victims as mother and son.
The woman’s body was found between a couch and a bed and her 39-year-old son was found on a bed, cops said. The woman had what appeared to be cuts on one leg.
The victims’ names were not immediately released.
On Tuesday, the victims’ apartment door was padlocked. The smell of decomposition still hung heavy in the air.
An autopsy was slated to determine how each victim died.
