A tractor-trailer driver has been hit with charges six months after fatally crashing into a bicyclist at a notorious Brooklyn intersection, police said Wednesday.
Jose Ferrufino was charged Wednesday with failure to yield to a bicyclist and failure to exercise due care for the collision that killed 43-year-old Jarrod Little in East New York on Aug. 30.
Little was riding his battery-powered bicycle when Ferrufino, 53, turning right from Pennsylvania Ave. onto Linden Blvd., struck Little in the crosswalk, crushing him beneath the rig’s wheels, a witness said at the time.
The victim was taken to Brookdale University Hospital, where he died.
The tragedy came less than six months after a 62-year-old woman was killed walking through the same intersection by a hit-and-run driver.
Little lived with his parents in Brownsville and had four years earlier started a company that promotes local hip hop and R&B artists.
Little’s father said a the time he didn’t blame the truck driver for his son’s death — but added that he’s noticed a rise in reckless driving around the city.
“People are in such a rage today,” said the dad, Julius Little, 70. “People just in a hurry. Like, ‘I want to go, get out of my way.’
“Maybe they should try to address that. Why are we killing each other like the way we are?”
Ferrufino was given a desk appearance ticket and is due in Brooklyn Criminal Court March 21 to face the charges. He lives in North Baldwin, LI, according to cops.
