A 23-year-old Tucson man was shot dead on Sunday after causing a disturbance at the suspect’s home, police said.
In the early morning hours on Sunday, Tucson police received a call from a man saying his roommate had shot another man on their property. Authorities responded to the home near East Elm Street and Euclid Avenue to find a 23-year-old man, later identified as Jacob Lera, suffering from serious gunshot wounds, police said.
The Tucson Fire Department immediately took Lera to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Lera was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital, according to police.
A homicide investigation revealed Lera was causing a noise disturbance at the two roommates’ home. The two men, one who was armed, went outside to investigate the noise and got involved in a physical fight with Lera. During the fight, the armed man fired multiple shots and struck Lera, according to a Monday news release.
Police said the shooter, caller and additional witnesses remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation when authorities arrived.
The investigation was ongoing with no suspects were outstanding. No arrests had been made at this time, detectives said.
Detectives were asking anyone with information regarding the investigation to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
