A man died and a teenager was hospitalized after a Sunday night shooting near 13th and Fillmore streets in Phoenix, according to police.
Phoenix police said officers responded to a shooting call at the location around 8:30 p.m. but did not find the victims or the suspects. A witness told police a teenager was shot and was taken to a gas station on 16th and Roosevelt streets.
Police found the teenager at a Circle K station and took him to a hospital with an injury that was not life-threatening, according to police.
Police later learned another person, identified as 35-year-old Gerardo Chavez, was also shot. A witness rushed Chavez to a hospital where he later died, police said.
The suspect fled before police arrived. No arrests were made, police said.
