A suspect has been arrested in the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man in a Bronx deli a week before Christmas, police said Thursday.
Andres Latorre, 37, was nabbed Wednesday night and charged with murder and manslaughter for the slaying of Ange Cuasant inside the deli on Briggs Ave. near E. 196th St. in Kingsbridge Heights on Dec. 18.
Cuasant, 26, was shot multiple times in the chest during the 11:10 a.m. clash, cops said. He died at St. Barnabas Hospital.
The victim lived about 15 blocks away from where he was killed.
Latorre lives in the Melrose section of the Bronx, according to cops.
Cuasant and Latorre got into a heated argument inside the deli, which spilled onto the street, police sources said. After the fight ended, Cuasant went back into the deli.
Latorre ran off, grabbed a gun, and ran back into the store to shoot his rival, police sources said.
The victim’s sister Crystal Cuasant told the Us.Mistertruth she last saw her brother when he came to her apartment about 8:20 a.m. He took a shower, got dressed and asked his sister for a scrunchie to tie back his long hair and left, saying he would be back later.
Angel left the apartment about 11 a.m., she said. At 11:47, Crystal found out from her sister that he was dead.
“My brother was very sensitive but at the same time he wouldn’t harm anybody,” Crystal said. “A lot of people loved him. He’s very known in the area.”
