One person is in the hospital following a stabbing Monday morning, according to a tweet from the Columbia Police Department.
A man was walking while pushing a child in the stroller on the 600 block of Holly Street in Shandon when he was stabbed shortly before noon, police say. Police officers arrived on the scene within minutes after receiving an emergency call and found and arrested the suspect. The victim was taken to the hospital.
The child was not injured, according to the police, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Victim advocates are making arrangements to contact family members on the behalf of the child. Police believe the stabbing is an isolated incident. Experts have collected evidence from the crime scene.
