A 69-year-old Manhattan subway rider was struck in the head with a cane and stick by a pair of muggers who stole his cellphone, police said Thursday.
The victim was on the mezzanine level of the E. 125th St. station on Lexington Ave. in East Harlem when the crooks came up from behind him about 7 p.m. Monday, cops said.
The robbers whacked him in the head with a cane and a stick before snatching his cellphone.
The victim suffered a cut on his face but did not seek medical attention and reported the attack to cops a day later.
The muggers dashed out of the station and have not been caught.
Cops released surveillance images of the suspects Thursday and are asking the public’s help identifying them and tracking them down.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
