The three Detroit rappers who went missing in January and were found last week each died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.
Armani Kelly, 28, Montoya Givens, 31, and Dante Wicker, 31, disappeared Jan. 21 after a gig they were driving to was canceled because of a equipment problems. Their bodies were found last Thursday at an abandoned apartment building in Highland Park, a suburb outside Detroit.
Detroit Police Chief James White said each man’s cellphone was turned off around the same time on the night they went missing.
On Jan. 28, a 15-year-old was arrested in Warren, about a half hour from Detroit, after allegedly being caught driving a car associated with one of the rappers. That arrest led investigators to the Highland Park apartment.
Michigan State Police said Tuesday that despite confirming the causes of death for the men, their investigation was ongoing.
“Members of the homicide task force are continuing to make progress on the investigation of the homicide of three men in Highland Park. It has been determined that the cause of death for each of the men was multiple gunshot wounds,” the law enforcement agency said in a statement.
“The investigation also has revealed that this was not a random incident. The investigation is continuing and detectives are making progress and we believe we may have determined a motive.”
