Rapper Post Malone is explaining his recent weight loss, telling fans he’s not doing drugs.
“Hello everybody, I hope you’re having a great night,” the 27-year-old, born Austin Post, wrote on Instagram on Friday as he gave an update from Antwerp, Belgium.
“I wanted to say that I’m not doing drugs, I’ve had a lot of people ask me about my weight loss and I’d suppose, performance on stage. I’m having a lot of fun performing, and have never felt healthier,” he said.
Post told fans that “dad life” has kicked in, now that he and his fiancée have a baby girl in their lives. “I decided to kick soda, and start eating better so I can be around for a long time for this little angel,” he wrote. “Next up is smokes and brews, but I like to consider myself a patient man… lol!”
The 10-time Grammy nominee also revealed in his Instagram post that he’s been working on new music, and he’s excited to share that work with his fans, who make his “heart beat.”
“I just wanted to say hi, and hopefully I’ll be posting more on here,” Post wrote. “My brain is in a super dope place, and I’m the happiest I’ve been in a long time. If you’re having a hard time or need some love, I can say that you’re loved more than you know, and keep f—king crushing it. Goodnight nerds. Spread love and rock on.”
Post’s health has been on fans’ minds since September 2022, when he was hospitalized with a “stabbing pain” that made it difficult to breathe about a week after injuring his ribs in an onstage mishap, according to People.
Post also denied drug use in March 2020 after footage of him slurring his words, falling on stage, and struggling to pick up a microphone had devotees worried, as CNN reported at the time.
“For anyone that’s concerned here, I appreciate the love and the support,” the artist told concert attendees in Memphis, Tenn., after the footage surfaced online. “But I feel f—king fantastic and I’m not doing drugs.”
