Police and county prosecutor investigators are investigating the apparent shooting death of a 22-year-old man early Sunday morning in the area of River and East 13th streets.
In addition to the one fatality, officials said there also was a 24-year-old man and 33-year-old man taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for gunshot wounds. It appears those two men were brought to the hospital by private vehicle.
In a midday news release, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Officer-in-Charge Isa Abbassi, said the investigation “is active and ongoing” and more information will be released when it becomes available.
The prosecutor did not release the name of the deceased who was shot just before 2:30 a.m.
This is the fourth homicide and 28th shooting incident this year in the city, according to Paterson Press’ statistics and prosecutor press releases. Last year the city at this point had recorded 10 homicides with 34 shooting in which someone was injured or killed.
