A suspect in a domestic violence case died in police custody after cops found him unconscious in a Manhattan stationhouse holding cell, NYPD officials said Sunday.
The 38-year-old man was arrested for a domestic violence-related assault and taken to the Midtown South Precinct stationhouse on W. 35th St. near Ninth Ave., police sources said.
Officers found him unconscious in his cell at about 2 a.m. Saturday and tried to revive him, cops said. Medics then rushed him to Mount Sinai West, but he could not be saved.
Cops have not released the suspect’s name and his cause of death remains under investigation. The NYPD’s Force Investigation Division is looking into the death.
