Meet your newest scream queen: Kim Kardashian. The reality TV A-lister will star in the next installment of “American Horror Story.”
Kardashian will join “AHS” veteran Emma Roberts in the FX series’ 12th season, due to premiere this summer, as co-creator Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter.
“Kim is among the biggest and brightest television stars in the world and we are thrilled to welcome her to the AHS family,” Murphy said. “Emma and I are excited about collaborating with this true force in the culture.”
In another first for the long-running anthology series, Season 12 will have just one writer: playwright Halley Feiffer.
“Halley Feiffer has written a fun, stylish, and ultimately terrifying role especially for Kim, and this season is ambitious and unlike anything we have ever done,” Murphy added.
Kardashian teased the news on Instagram on Monday, posting a video with scrawled words reading “Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian are delicate” as a warped version of “Rock-a-bye Baby” plays in the background.
“Delicate” is also the subtitle of Season 12, THR reports, adding that the plotline is at least partly based on Danielle Valentine’s upcoming novel “Delicate Condition,” a thriller about a woman who believes a sinister figure is sabotaging her pregnancy.
Sourcebooks, which will release the book in August, says the novel is like “‘The Push’ meets ‘The Silent Patient.’” And in a blurb promoting the book, writer Rachel Harrison calls it “a frightening, propulsive read brimming with brutal truths about motherhood, autonomy, and the everyday horror of not being believed.”
Kardashian previously made cameos on the TV shows “How I Met Your Mother,” “Last Man Standing,” “30 Rock,” and “2 Broke Girls.” She also had a recurring role on the Lifetime series “Drop Dead Diva.”
THR reports Murphy was impressed with Kardashian’s job hosting a 2021 episode of “Saturday Night Live” and got in touch with her last summer to plot what stands to be her biggest acting role yet.
