Remains found last month in an abandoned property in Santa Monica, California, were determined to belong to a man with Oxford roots who had been missing for more than a year and a half, according to authorities.
The remains of Beau Mann, who was 38 at the time of his disappearance, were found on April 25 in the courtyard of the abandoned property on Santa Monica Boulevard, according to Santa Monica police. A spokesperson for the Santa Monica police said the remains were found by a homeless person.
The cause of death is under investigation.
Mann was living in a Los Angeles apartment while he worked at a company that managed Sober Grid, an app that he had built to support others in recovery.
He was last seen on the afternoon of Nov. 30, 2021, on video surveillance footage that captured him walking out of a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles.
Members of Mann’s family, who live in Oxford and Texas, called the Los Angeles police after losing contact with Mann, who was described by his mother to be very close to his family.
Mann had promised his mother he would visit his family in Oxford for Christmas, but he was never heard from again.
The Los Angeles County Coroner has possession of the remains and are currently working to determine the cause of death.
