Dozens of passengers and several crew members were evacuated from an Alaskan cruise ship after a fire in the engine room on Monday.
The relatively small Wilderness Discoverer, operated by UnCruise Adventures, was tooling around Glacier Bay National Park on Monday morning when crew members noticed the fire.
All 51 passengers and 17 of 27 crew members were evacuated to a much larger ship nearby, Cruise Industry News reported. Ten crew members stayed behind on the Wilderness Discoverer, but no injuries were reported.
“By the time we got there, they had put the fire out,” Coast Guard Petty Officer Ian Gray told Alaska Public Media. “All of the passengers were taken off and were in good health.”
The evacuees were taken by lifeboat to the Sapphire Princess, a significantly larger ship with capacity for more than 2,600 passengers.
Meanwhile, the Wilderness Discoverer was towed 300 miles south to Ketchikan. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
“Every effort is being made to minimize any inconvenience caused by the incident,” UnCruise told Cruise Industry News in a statement. “The cruise line will be providing full refunds to all passengers affected by the incident and providing hotels and flights home for those affected.”
