Why is “Succession” ending? Blame Brian Cox.
The Scottish actor, who became a star in his seventies thanks to his stellar performance as Logan Roy on the hit show, wanted out, sources say.
“He has many projects on his plate and is getting ready to return to the stage and direct his first film,” said one insider. “Cox knows time is precious and wants to spend it wisely.”
Cox plays a patriarch based loosely on a certain Australian media mogul.
One source said Cox is also not a fan of Jeremy Strong’s method acting. Strong plays his middle son Kendall in the drama.
Cox wanting to leave is the main reason the show is ending with Season 4.

The man who brought Tetris to America has a new end game — saving the planet.
Over lunch at Michael’s, Henk Rogers told me, “We want 100% renewable energy by 2045. Hawaii has already passed the legislation. You can’t wait for politicians, you need laws. That’s our goal.”
The billionaire, who has an apartment in the W. 40s, has founded the Blue Planet Alliance. “We as human beings have always overcome obstacles,” Rogers said. He then handed out little marbles of the Earth. “This is my new calling card,” he said. This guy walks the walk and rides a bike around Manhattan.
Actor Richard Kind popped over from the next table. He was ready to help. “Sign me up,” Kind said.
We were joined by the former Russian game designer who actually dreamt up Tetris, Alexey Pajitnov. No one had borscht.
It’s all in a new AppleTV+ film “Tetris” streaming now. Rogers is played by “Rocket Man” Taron Egerton.
Rogers likes the movie but wants to keep moving on the planet. “It’s not a game, we gotta do this.” And then he was gone. Leaving a very small carbon footprint.

Boze Hadleigh, author of 22 books, is betting that some boob-tubers will turn off their TVs to read his latest, “Game Show Confidential” from Lyons Press.
Hadleigh, who got onto “Jeopardy!” years ago and won, reveals:
- Pre-fame, James Dean was fired as a stunt-tester for “Beat the Clock” because he was too good at the job
- Betty White was set to host a ‘60s game show via Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions until ABC vetoed having a female host
- Howard Hughes put in a bid to buy ABC-TV. Then one day after watching a particular game show he called his aide and ordered him to cancel the bid: “I would never buy anything that played crap like ‘The Newlywed Game’”
- “Match Game” host Gene Rayburn, who was older than he looked, was wished a happy 72nd birthday on “Entertainment Tonight” and suddenly his phone stopped ringing — he was “too old.”
Hadleigh includes a number of Paul Lynde zingers from “Hollywood Squares” whose host Peter Marshall is now 97.
Marshall: “You’re the world’s most popular fruit. What are you?”
Lynde: “Humble.”
Boze, whose name rhymes with “shows,” recently moved from Beverly Hills to San Francisco, where the hills are real.

Niles Rodgers, who ended up producing “Let’s Dance” for David Bowie, wasn’t impressed when he first heard the song.
“It sounded like a folk song,” Rodgers told Ralph Sutton on “The SDR Show” podcast.
“I honestly thought that we was trying to test me to see if I was a sycophant. I called friends to see if he was trying to test me, and they all said no, if he thinks it’s a hit, it’s a hit.” Bowie was right.
Rodgers first met Bowie while hanging with a very drunk Billy Idol. Idol actually threw up right before the meeting — wiped his mouth — and extended his hand to shake Bowie’s.
Rodgers also recalls partying at strip clubs with David Lee Roth.
“No matter the city, David knew the clubs and the guys. In one club, we spent so much money that they kicked everyone else out, and it was just me and Dave and like 200 girls.”
Rodgers is currently working on the next Coldplay album — for which he and the band are sitting in a circle and jamming out. Rodgers is adding some shredding guitars.
