The case of a woman whose body was found March 21 along the Illinois River is now being investigated as a homicide.
Tamara D. Schaidle received injuries consistent with significant blunt force trauma and drowning by another, the Peoria County Coroner’s Office posted Friday on its Facebook page.
“After further investigation and continued collaboration and cooperation with the Peoria Police Department, this case is being investigated as a homicide,” the post said.
The body of the 58-year-old Peoria woman was found near the RiverPlex just north of downtown, partially submerged in the Illinois River.
The Peoria Police Department said in a Facebook post Friday that Schaidle was last seen on March 20 walking from Morton Street into the Constitution Garden Park near the Dan Fogelberg Memorial. Schaidle was wearing a black coat, blue jeans and white shoes.
