A teenager was taken into custody after an early Friday morning shooting in Tucson left one person wounded.
Caiden Lopez., 16, is charged with first-degree attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 12:20 a.m., deputies responded to a person’s shooting in the area of North Kain Avenue and West Kimberly Place, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found multiple shell casings at the scene and learned from witnesses that multiple people fled the area before law enforcement arrived, according to the agency.
Detectives identified Lopez as their suspect after speaking with witnesses and collecting evidence and compiling a list of persons of interest, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies located Lopez and arrested him, the agency said.
The victim was driven to a hospital as deputies were dispatched and and as of Saturday morning remains in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
