A police cadet and two firefighters were injured when lightning struck a Fort Worth training facility, according to authorities.
Dallas, Texas station WFAA reports the police officer in training was “possibly” hit in the ankle around late Friday morning and was being treated in a local hospital.
Around the same time, a pair of firefighters were injured by a lightning strike, but remained on duty, the Fort Worth Fire Department reportedly confirmed.
The Dallas Morning News said the firefighters’ minor injuries were from the same strike around 10:30 a.m.
Social media site DFW Scanner said the police officer suffered “potentially serious” injuries at the Bob Bolen Public Safety Complex, but is in good condition.
Storms passing through northern Texas could continue throughout the day. The National Weather Service warns “a complex of storms will move southeast through portions of the region” overnight.
Summer is off to a rough start for parts of the Lone Star State.
