A Liberty man was charged with rape and sexual abuse following an alleged assault of a woman over the past weekend.
Village of Liberty police reported Tuesday that officers responded to a 911 call for a sexual assault at a village residence around 2 a.m. Saturday.
The officers found a woman at that residence who reported being threatened with a knife and sexually assaulted.
An investigation by detectives and officers resulted in the arrest of Brandon Dalto, 23, of Liberty.
Dalto was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree strangulation, all felonies; and second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors.
Dalto was arraigned in Town of Liberty Justice Court and sent to Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail, $150,000 bond or $300,000 partially secured bond, pending further court action.
