A Brooklyn man, convinced his fiancée was cheating on him, stabbed her to death with a kitchen knife inside their Coney Island home early Tuesday, police said.
“Why did he kill my baby?” said the victim’s sobbing mother as family members arrived hours later at the murder scene. “Let me go see my baby! I’m (going to) kill him! My baby’s in there? … He’s crazy. Why did he do that? She ain’t hurt nobody.”
The victim’s daughter and father also rushed to the scene after the fight over alleged infidelity exploded inside the couple’s house on W. 20th St. near Mermaid Ave. about 1:25 a.m., cops said.
As the quarrel escalated, the suspect stabbed his 44-year-old fiancée in the neck and torso, police said.
“I need to know, is my mother dead?” said the devastated daughter. “Oh my f—ing God!”
The victim’s 50-year-old fiancé was taken into custody and police recovered the murder weapon, with charges against the suspect pending.
The fiancé was arrested in June 2022 on accusations of choking the victim. The disposition of that case was not immediately clear Tuesday.
Medics rushed the victim from the multi-family house’s first-floor hallway to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was not immediately released.
The couple resided in an apartment one floor up in the building.
