A Richwood man was arrested Memorial Day after fatally killing motorcyclist while driving under the influence.
Leon Patrick, Jr., 52, was booked into Ouachita Correctional Center and charged with vehicular homicide and careless operation.
Louisiana State Police responded to a fatality on I-20 westbound near milepost 123 at about 9:20 p.m., according to the affidavit. Upon arrival, authorities saw a gray 2006 GMC Yukon crashed in the tree line north of the interstate.
Authorities also saw a motorcycle with severe damage in an grassy area north of the interstate and confirmed that the owner of the motorcycle was deceased, the affidavit read.
The owner of the GMC Yukon was identified as Patrick. Authorities said in the affidavit that his eyes appeared to be red and watery and his speech was slurred. Authorities could smell alcohol from Patrick, who said he hit a bump on the road and admitted to drinking four beers before driving from Rayville.
After performing poorly on a field sobriety test, Patrick was taken into custody.
