State police arrested a Bayville man Sunday and charged him with driving under the influence after he allegedly crashed his vehicle on the Garden State Parkway and then kept driving it for several more miles.
What police said: Sgt. Philip Curry said the driver, Michael Karpa, 42, hit a guard rail in a Nissan Frontier around 3 p.m. Sunday while traveling southbound on the parkway. Curry said no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
What witnesses saw: Witnesses called state police, which then responded and located the vehicle and pulled Karpa over at mile marker 99 in Wall Township. Curry said the pick-up truck had “heavy damage.”
Charges: Karpa was arrested and charged with DUI and issued several additional motor vehicle summonses.
