A homeless man was shot and wounded during a clash in Manhattan Tuesday morning, cops said.
The 40-year-old victim and a woman he was with were near Henry and Market Sts. in Chinatown, about a block from the entrance to the Manhattan Bridge, when they got into an argument with two men about 9:30 a.m., cops said.
As the argument escalated one of the men punched the woman in the face and when the victim jumped in to protect her he was shot in the chest, police said said.
Medics took the victim to Bellevue Hospital where he was treated for a minor wound. He was uncooperative with cops, a police source said.
The woman was not seriously hurt.
Cops took one of the two suspects into custody and brought him to the 5th Precinct stationhouse for questioning. Charges were pending.
The second suspect has not been caught.
