Heavily armed NYPD cops and federal agents raided a Brooklyn NYCHA complex Thursday, taking four suspects into custody as part of a gang takedown, authorities said.
A federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives team sporting rifles and dressed in full tactical gear converged on a Red Hook Houses building on Columbia St. near W. Ninth St. about 9 a.m.
The takedown was the culmination of a year-long investigation into a local drug gang, police sources said.
Detectives from Brooklyn South Narcotics helped execute the search warrant, drawing a large crowd of onlookers as suspects were taken to an awaiting van.
The four people taken into custody were not immediately charged.
Investigators suspected an assortment of drugs and guns were being stored in an apartment but it wasn’t immediately disclosed what was recovered.
