A Jarrettsville man was arrested Sunday in the stabbing of his father and physical assault of his mother following a domestic dispute, the Harford County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Police arrested Mark Daniel Pickett, 26, around 12:25 p.m. without incident in the area of Camp Wo-Me-To in Jarrettsville. He was charged with attempted murder, and first- and second-degree assault. Pickett is being held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center. A hearing is scheduled for May 19 in Harford District Court.
At approximately 10:45 p.m., Saturday, deputies from the Northern Precinct of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a domestic assault in the 3900 block of Rush Road in Jarrettsville. Upon arrival, they found Larry Dillon Pickett, 62, suffering from nonfatal stab wounds to the back of his head and right leg, according to a news release.
Deputies also found a second victim, Sharon Marie Pickett, 60, suffering facial injuries from a physical assault. Both victims were transported to Wellspan York Hospital for treatment of their injuries, the release states. A sheriff’s spokesperson confirmed that the victims are the suspect’s parents.
Police say the suspect fled on foot prior to deputies’ arrival. An initial investigation conducted by detectives from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division indicated that the stabbing occurred as a result of a disagreement that escalated to a physical assault, the release said.
