A mass shooting at a bank building in Louisville, Ky., early Monday left five people dead and six others hospitalized, police said.
The morning massacre at the Old National Bank’s building was carried out by a lone shooter who is now dead, the Louisville Metro Police Department said.
Police were alerted to the incident on the 300 block E. Main St. around 8:30 a.m., and officers arrived to the scene within minutes, according to authorities.
“There is no longer a danger to the public,” police tweeted. “Asking the public to avoid area.”
A motive for the rampage has not been released, nor has an update on the conditions of the wounded victims.
Police have not specified whether the suspected shooter, who has not been named publicly, was killed by officers.
