A Milwaukee 12-year-old accused of killing a man to steal his guns was arrested after authorities discovered a pizza receipt on the crime scene they were ultimately able to link to the young suspect’s cellphone.
The boy, who was not identified because of his age, is facing a count of first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the killing of Brandon Felton, the Milwaukee Sentinel reported. He was found dead inside his home from a gunshot wound to the back of the head on March 18.
Authorities now believe Felton was shot three days earlier, after he refused to sell the young suspect guns.
A search of Felton’s home turned up a receipt for Dominos pizza with a phone number listed on the bottom, according to a criminal complaint obtained by CNN. When police called the number, the 12-year-old old suspect answered.
The boy initially denied ordering the pie, but his mother later brought him in to the police department after learning that he lied to officers.
Police in turn pulled the boy’s phone records, which showed a series of chilling texts sent the day of Felton’s slaying.
“I’m gonna do it to Brandan [sic],” he texted, per court documents.
The preteen also said he had a gun and asked, “Should I kill him (right now)?,” according to the complaint.
Another person in the conversation replied, “Noooo,” but the boy allegedly then said, “I’m belting him don’t got time for dude going after my family,” the documents show.
During an initial court appearance a judge ordered the 12-year-old be held on $100,000 bond.
