A 41-year-old woman was shot in the head as she tried to break up a fight between neighbors in the hallway of her Harlem building, police said.
The would-be peacemaker was apparently hit by a stray bullet. The gunman ran off, but police know who he is and are searching for him.
The shot was fired just before 8:30 a.m. in a Lincoln Houses building on E. 135th St. near Park Ave., cops said.
The gunman and another resident got into an argument in the hallway on the sixth floor, police said. When the gunman fired he inadvertently hit the victim as she tried to break up the fight.
Medics rushed her to Harlem Hospital in critical condition.
