LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Police arrested six teenagers early Saturday on suspicion they stole a couple’s car in the 500 block of South Street, according to Lafayette police.
The couple were in town from Iowa to help their son move and were staying at the downtown Holiday Inn Friday night. They parked their car on the street, and early Saturday, noticed a group with flashlights around their car, according to police.
Then one of the owners noticed the group was inside the car and watched the car drive away, according to police.
They called the police about 1 a.m. Saturday to report the stolen car. Officers found the six teens and the car a few minutes later at Sixth and Columbia streets.
The teens — a 17-year-old, a 16-year-old, two 15-year-olds, and two 14-year-olds — were all boys. They all were booked into the juvenile detention facility, police said.
