Police on Tuesday identified the gunman they believe shot a 34-year-old straphanger on a Manhattan subway train late last month.
The victim was on a Brooklyn-bound N train approaching Canal St. just after 1 a.m. on Jan. 28 when he got into an argument with Marcos Cofresi, 30, and a woman, cops said.
The disagreement escalated and Cofresi pulled out a gun and fired twice, striking the man once in the left arm and once in the torso, police said.
Cofresi, of Bushwick, got off the train at Canal St. with the woman and took off, cops said.
Medics took the injured victim to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.
Police are asking for the public’s help locating Cofresi and asked anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
