An incident between a Fort Collins man and two people who came to his door as part of a fundraiser drew a large police presence to a northeast Fort Collins neighborhood Thursday evening.
Fort Collins police say they responded to the 2200 block of Marshfield Lane, which is located in the Maple Hill neighborhood west of Anheuser-Busch’s Fort Collins brewery, after being told a man was pointing a handgun at two men who came to his door.
After pointing a gun at the individuals, the man “reportedly followed the victims on foot and his vehicle,” according to police spokesperson Erin Feit.
According to My Neighborhood Update, a crime map Fort Collins police uses to share details about “citizen calls for service and officer-initiated events,” 10 police cars responded.
Though Larimer County Jail booking records initially indicated the man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, those records have since been corrected. He was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing as well as prohibited use a firearm, according to police and online court records. As of Friday morning, formal charges had not been filed against him.
