Eduardo Escobar’s time with the Mets has come to an end.
The third baseman has been traded to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for minor league pitchers Coleman Crow and Landon Marceaux, the team announced on Friday.
Escobar is slashing .236/.286/.409 with four homers and 16 RBI in 40 games this season. The 34-year-old lost the everyday third baseman duties to top prospect Brett Baty and has been used in a bench role for the majority of this season.
Escobar inked a two-year, $20 million contract with the Amazins prior in November of 2021 and will be a free agent at the conclusion of this season.
