Three female patients at Wichita’s Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital were reportedly raped by an intruder overnight.
Miguel Rodela, 28, is accused of entering the Kansas medical facility, where he’s neither a patient nor an employee, and assaulting the trio of alleged victims before 2 a.m. Thursday, according to the Wichita Eagle.
How he got into the hospital is part of an ongoing investigation. The Eagle the suspect tussled with hospital security before law enforcement arrived.
No information about the victims has been made available. Rodela is reportedly charged with rape that involves “sexual intercourse with physically powerless victim.”
Wichita station KAKE reports the suspect was convicted of assault in 2019 and is in a Community Corrections program through the state’s Department of Corrections.
