The three people who opened fire on a bustling Hollywood, Florida boardwalk on Memorial Day have been arrested, according to authorities.
Nine people, including four children, were wounded when gunfire erupted along the Hollywood Oceanfront Broadwalk, just north of Miami, on Memorial Day.
Lionel JeanCharles Jr., 18, Ariel Cardahn Paul, 16, and Jordan Burton, 15, were the three people who pulled guns and started shooting that evening, the Hollywood Police Department said.
Burton was arrested Saturday by U.S. Marshals, Paul was captured Sunday by Hollywood police and JeanCharles was detained Monday by Hollywood police, according to authorities.
“We would like to thank our community for all the help,” the department said in announcing the arrests. “Together we keep Hollywood safe.”
Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Memorial Day, visitors to the popular tourist destination began running for their lives after hearing gunshots on the boardwalk. Five adults and four children were struck by bullets. Two of those nine victims remained hospitalized on Monday, according to police.
Less than 24 hours after the shooting, two 18-year-old men were arrested. But police said the two teenagers, Morgan Deslouches and Keshawn Stewart, did not pull any triggers. Deslouches and Stewart were only involved in the fight that led to the gunfire, cops said.
Investigators also recovered five guns from the scene. They said two had been stolen, one from Texas and one from Miami-Dade County.
JeanCharles, Paul and Burton will all be charged as adults with attempted first-degree murder, eight counts of attempted murder in the second degree and one count of carrying a concealed firearm, police said.
