A Monroe man has been accused by state police of engaging in sexual conduct with a child less than 15 years old.
According to state police, their Child Abuse Unit was working with Orange County Child Protective Services on Sunday when they received allegations about the suspect, Sergio Lucero, 40, of the village of Monroe.
Police said an investigation of those allegations led to Lucero’s arrest.
Lucero was charged with second-degree criminal sex act, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Lucero was arraigned before Minisink Town Justice George Smith and sent to Orange County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail, pending further court action.
The name of his attorney was not immediately available.
