The Office of the State Attorney announced Friday that Escambia Circuit Judge Linda Nobles sentenced a 29-year-old Pensacola man to 15 years in prison for raping a woman.
According to a press release, Demontra Mitchell was sentenced after a jury found him guilty of the sexual battery of a woman after “spending the evening in downtown Pensacola” on Oct. 8, 2020.
After leaving downtown Pensacola, “the victim and several others went to the defendant’s house. In the early morning hours, the victim was sexually battered by an unidentified individual.”
Investigators discovered Mitchell was the perpetrator after a Florida Department of Law Enforcement DNA analysis confirmed the defendant’s DNA.
Assistant State Attorney Frederick Longmire said, “The defendant’s actions stripped the victim of all sense of personal security. His actions warrant the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.”
As part of the sentence, Mitchel was also designated as a sexual offender.
