A suspected drunk driver swerved over the center yellow line and plowed into a group of motorcyclists, killing four people and injuring six others Saturday afternoon in southwest Missouri.
Theresa Manetzke, 51, was charged with felony DWI, according to online records.
Linda Anderson, 61, James Olmstead, 59, Kameron Hale, 28, and a 17-year-old girl were killed in the crash, which occurred just outside the city of Aurora on Missouri Highway 39.
“No words can adequately express the sorrow and sadness we are feeling for everyone involved and impacted by this crash,” the local police department wrote on Facebook.
The group of 10 bikers was traveling northbound on Highway 39 with two people on each motorcycle, according to a crash report from Missouri State Highway Patrol. Manetzke was driving southbound in a 2016 Toyota Corolla.
Manetzke crashed into all five bikes, flipping them over and ejecting the drivers and riders, police said. After carving a path of destruction, her car ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. One of the motorcycles then caught fire.
Manetzke also suffered serious injuries in the crash and her car was totaled, according to the report. She was transported to a local hospital and not immediately jailed.
All six injured bikers were listed in serious condition. They were identified as Jesse Clinkingbeard, 54, Darrell Trueblood, 37, Krista Trueblood, 30, Jessica Zielinski, 35, Cody Zielinski, 35, and a 16-year-old girl. All those involved in the crash were Aurora residents.
