DaniLeigh ended Memorial Day weekend with a mugshot. The rapper, born Danielle Curiel, has been arrested for allegedly driving under the influence and injuring a motorized scooter rider in a hit-and-run.
A police report obtained by Complex states witnesses saw Curiel “traveling at a high rate of speed” while “weaving in and out of traffic” near Miami Beach early Tuesday morning before allegedly striking a man using a motorized scooter and dragging the scooter for about a block.
After a bystander reported the alleged incident to a police officer, that officer pulled Curiel over, noticed the smell of alcohol, and had her take a field sobriety test and a Breathalyzer test, according to the police report. The Breathalyzer registered blood alcohol levels of 0.145 and 0.148, almost twice the legal limit, the police report added, per TMZ.
Curiel was jailed on three felony charges: driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury, and DUI damage to property, the putlet reports.
The site adds that a local hospital told cops that the scooter user suffered a kidney laceration and a spinal fracture.
Curiel is a Def Jam artist who went Platinum in 2020 with her single “Lil Bebe” and 4x Platinum earlier this year with her track “Easy.” She has released three full-length albums — 2018′s “The Plan” and 2020′s “Movie” — and three EPs — 2017′s “Summer With Friends,” 2019′s “My Present,” and 2022′s “My Side.”
In November 2021, Curiel was charged with two counts of simple assault after an altercation with rapper DaBaby, with whom she has a child, according to USA Today.
And in February 2022, DaBaby and his crew brawled with Brandon Bills, Curiel’s brother, at a bowling alley in California, but TMZ reported that April that the investigation into the incident hit a wall after Bills chose not to cooperate with police.
