The Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans have new insights into Kim Zolciak-Biermann’s breakup with husband Kroy Biermann and the couple’s reported financial troubles.
Earlier this month TMZ reported that the Biermanns are divorcing and owe the IRS $1.1 million in unpaid taxes, interest, and penalties for three prior tax years.
Now the site has obtained legal documents in which Biermann alleges his estranged wife has displayed “very troubling behavior,” including a “compulsion” for online gaming that has taken a toll on the family’s finances.
Biermann also claims in the court filing that Zolciak-Biermann is so obsessed with gambling that she can’t care for their four minor children. He wants her to undergo a psychological exam, thinking her alleged gambling problem might be tied to a mental health issue, the site adds.
Last week, however, Zolciak-Biermann lobbed accusations of her own, as TMZ reported at the time, saying she’s concerned for her minor kids’ well-being because of Biermann’s alleged marijuana use and asking a judge to order Biermann to take a hair follicle drug screen.
Zolciak-Biermann, who starred in the first five seasons of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and Biermann, a former Atlanta Falcons linebacker, married in 2011.
The duo’s financial situation has made headlines many times in recent months. In February, a Fulton County notice revealed that the Biermanns’ mansion in Alpharetta, Ga., was in foreclosure after the couple defaulted on a $1.65 million loan. The foreclosure auction, however, was ultimately called off for undisclosed reasons.
In an episode of his SiriusXM radio show on Tuesday, May 16, “RHOA” producer Andy Cohen said that he warned Zolciak-Biermann about her spending habits. “There are so many clips of me saying to Kim, ‘I am worried about the way you spend your money. He is not a football player, he is a retired football player,’” Cohen added, per Us Weekly. “Kroy was a retired football player. They didn’t have the football player money coming in anymore.”
The Biermanns have welcomed four children together: Kroy “KJ” Jagger, 11, Kash Kade, 10, and twins Kaia Rose and Kane Ren, 9.
Zolciak-Biermann, 45, came into the relationship with two daughters from prior relationships — Brielle, now 26, and Ariana, now 21 — whom Biermann, 37, adopted in 2013.
