Authorities allegedly seized massive amounts of heroin, cocaine, and crystal methamphetamine in coordinated raids last month at apartments in the city’s 4th and 5th Wards.
Arrest made: Felix Rodriguez, 40, was charged with operating a drug manufacturing facility and other narcotics and gun crimes, according to the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office.
Drugs seized: Detectives allegedly found two kilos of heroin with a street value of $1 million, four kilos of cocaine with a street value of $220,000, and various paraphernalia used for packaging drugs at 460 East 26th Street, authorities said.
Meanwhile, at 724 East 28th Street, which officials said is Rodriguez’ home, detectives allegedly seized two and a half kilos of crystal methamphetamine with a street value of $400,000, half a kilo of cocaine with a street value of $28,000, and a .357 revolver, according to the AG’s office.
Participating agencies: The investigation, which started in February, was conducted by the state Gangs and Organized Crime Bureau of the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice along with the Paterson Police Narcotics Unit, officials said. The Passaic County SWAT team participated in the raids.
When were the raids?: The raids took place on April 12 and state officials issued a news release about the operation on May 8. It was not clear why the state waited almost a month before making the announcement.
