Two children wearing urine-soaked diapers were found wandering alone near a busy roadway in Adelanto, according to Victor Valley sheriff officials.
At 10:35 a.m. Monday, deputies were dispatched to the 14900 block of Christopher Street. The caller stopped the toddler and baby just before they reached Mojave Drive, which is known to be a roadway with excessive traffic, sheriff’s officials said.
The children are 1 and 2 years old, according to deputies.
The children had walked roughly two blocks from their home. The 1-year-old was wearing no shoes or pants, and both children were dirty, with urine-soaked diapers, deputies said.
The mother of the children, Egypt Ealy, 21, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and booked into the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto.
The toddler and baby, along with Ealy’s two other children, were turned over to Child and Family Services.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Valley Sheriff’s Station at (760) 552-6800. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can contact We-Tip at 800-78CRIME or wetip.com.
