A Blackford County woman who survived a drug overdose has been placed on home detention after pleading guilty to a dealing charge.
Sierra N. Sapp, 29, of rural Hartford City, in recent days pleaded guilty to dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 4 felony carrying up to 12 years in prison.
A plea bargain called for dismissal of 11 other drug-related counts, including dealing in meth, a Level 2 felony with a maximum 30-year sentence.
Judge Brian Bade imposed a six-year sentence — 18 months on electronic home detention, followed by 54 months on probation.
Sapp was arrested in January 2022 after a family member used Narcan to revive her after an overdose at their home. She later told Blackford County sheriff’s deputies she had “snorted” heroin before the overdose.
Investigators said they found both heroin and meth in Sapp’s room.
She told deputies she purchased both drugs in “large quantities so that she does not have to constantly look for methamphetamine and heroin.”
