The manslaughter charges against Alec Baldwin over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of his film Rust have been dropped.
New Mexico prosecutors dropped the criminal charges against the Hollywood star on Thursday, US broadcaster reported.
In a statement, Baldwin’s lawyers said they were pleased with the outcome.
“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident,” said Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro.
The actor was charged with involuntary manslaughter in January for the accidental shooting, which took place in October 2021.
Before the charge was dropped, he faced up to 18 months in prison if convicted.
